Fresno Pacific, Azusa Pacific, Concordia and Westmont all went a perfect 3-0 on the opening weekend of the 2025 volleyball season to share the Team(s) of the Week award. 2024 PacWest Player of the Year Abigail Nua picked up where she left off with 64 kills in three matches for Player of the Week, and longtime Biola Eagle Bri Bellfi grabs Defender of the Week by averaging 5.54 digs per set.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Point Loma's Abigail Nua, Sr., OH, 5-10, Lakewood, Colo.
Point Loma's Abigal Nua helped the Sea Lions win two of three matches on opening weekend at home in Golden Gymnasium with typical Nua numbers. The three-time All-American (including First Team in 2024) had 26 kills in a five-game setback to CS San Bernardino and then had 19 kills each in wins over Emporia State and Northwest Nazarene. That gave her an average of 5.33 kills per set and 6.08 points per game. The Colorado native hit .341 in the three-set win over Emporia State and dug up 15 balls in the loss to the Coyotes. Nua now has 1,233 kills in three seasons and one weekend, which ranks 17th all-time in the PacWest.
DEFENDER OF THE WEEK: Biola's Bri Bellfi, Sr., DS-L, 5-6, Murrieta, Calif.
Biola's Bri Bellfi was a defensive cornerstone for the Eagles as they split four matches in Alaska. The fourth-year standout averaged a conference weekend best 5.54 digs per set, including a career-high 33 in a five-set loss to the University of Alaska. She added 20 digs against host Alaska Anchorage and had 17 more in a three-set win over CS San Marcos (she played just one set in a win over Minot State). Bellfri also had seven assists and a pair of service aces in the final match of the tournament against CSUSM. Bellfi has led her team in digs in each of her three previous seasons since stepping on Biola's campus in 2022.

Four teams share the PacWest Team of the Week award after perfect 3-0 weekends during the first matches of the season.
Fresno Pacific topped three teams from the CCAA in their own tournament, taking down Chico State and UC Merced in straight sets while also rallying from after trailing 2-1 to take out Stanislaus State in five sets. The Warriors were picked fifth in the CCAA preseason poll.
Concordia only dropped one set in beating Western Oregon, CS Dominguez Hills and Texas Woman's University in Irvine, led by
Nevada Knowles' 84 assists on offense and 30 digs on defense.
Azusa Pacific also rolled at their own tournament, falling in just one game while topping Regis, Western Oregon and Texas Woman's. The Cougars hit a conference-best .313 as a team in those three matches.
Westmont also won three straight at Fresno's tournament, clipping UC Merced, Stanislaus State and Chico State. The Warriors had to go the distance in their first match of the Sunbird tourney, winning in the fifth set against the Wildcats, 15-13.

Chaminade taking on GNAC favorite Central Washington and Western Washington, while
Biola, Azusa Pacific and
Vanguard will host Texas Permian Basin, CS Dominguez Hills, Stanislaus State and CS Monterey Bay. San Francisco State will be the destination for
Menlo and
Fresno Pacific, while
Point Loma treks to MSU-Denver.
