The 2026 Pacific West Conference all-league women's soccer squad has a very familiar look to it, with nine players on the first team that have been there before.
In fact, 15 players on the list were previous honorees, including repeat Goalkeeper of the Year
Lydia Keller of
Hawaii HIlo. That speaks to the strength and quality of veterans in the conference heading into a very competitive PacWest Championship tomorrow (Thursday) in Hilo.
Those four tournament teams--
Point Loma, Concordia, Hawaii Hilo and
Biola--are very well represented in the special awards and all-conference teams. PacWest runner-up Concordia placed three players on the special awards list, including PacWest Coach of the Year
Chris Gould, Defender of the Year
Sloane De Torres and Co-Newcomer of the Year
Christina Sidoti. Biola has the Player of the Year in
Briley Phelps, Hilo also has the other half of the necomer honorees in
Sydney Harpster, and
Vanguard can boast of the Freshman of the Year in
Jennifer Alvarez.
PacWest regular season champion
Point Loma didn't have a special award winner, but they had the most First Team Selections by far with six. Concordia has three and Hawaii Hilo has two.
Biola's Briley Phelps was a scoring maching this season for the Eagles. She tied for the conference lead with 12 goals and ranked 22nd in the NCAA in that category. The senior led the conference in points (30), assists (6), shots on goal and shots. She was a three-time PacWest Player of the Week. Phelps recorded two hat tricks, which included a four-goal outing against Westmont. The four-year Biola starter was a Third-Team selection as a sophomore, was Second Team last year and now caps her career on the First Team and as Player of the Year.
Concordia's Sloane De Torres was selected by the conferene's coaches as the Defender of the Year. The senior defender helped lead one of the best defensive teams in the conference to a second place finish and a No. 3 NCAA West Region ranking. She has been named the PacWest Defender of the Week and lists fifth in conference assists with four. The local Irvine product was a Second Team All-PacWest pick in 2025. She helped CUI win seven of their last eight matches and they outscored their opponents this year by +19 margin.
Hawaii Hilo's Lydia Keller directed her Vulcan's team defense to a PacWest low of just ten goals allowed in 15 total matches. Keller, the PacWest Goalkeeper of the Year and First Team selection in 2025 as well, had a 0.67 goals against average and a save percentage of .831 (49 saves). She had nine shutouts this season, four more than any other keeper in the conference. Her season best was seven saves, accomplished during a 1-1 tie with Point Loma.
Jennifer Alvarez of
Vanguard is the Freshman of the Year. As a true rookie, Alvarez played in 16 matches and scored five goals, three of them in conference matches. She totaled 11 points on the season and led her Lion team in both goals and points, on a squad that just missed the PacWest playoffs by one point. She also fired off 49 shots on the season, 21 more than anyone else on the team. In just her second collegiate match, the Chino Hills native (Don Lugo HS) scored both goals in a 2-1 win over CSU Dominguez Hills.
Defensive standouts
Sydney Harpster of Hilo and
Christine Sidoti of Concordia share the Newcomer of the Year award. Sidoti had a 10-2-4 record in the goal for the Golden Eagles and a 0.97 goals against average. The UC Riverside transfer had three shutouts and a PacWest season high of 13 saves against Point Loma. Harpster patrolled the midfield for the Vulcans and played a big part in UHH's defensive success, where the Vulcans allowed only five goals in conference matches. She played nearly every minute of the season (1290). She had a penalty kick game-winner against Vanguard. Harpster transferred this year after starting 20 matches over two seasons at the University of San Francisco.
Concordia head coach
Chris Gould led the Golden Eagles to a near conference title and a current third slot listing in the NCAA West Region NPI ratings. Gould and the Golden Eagles notched their fifth straight 10-win season and they outscored their opponents by a +19 margin. CUI was ranked as high as No. 13 nationally this year and they come into the tournament with a 10-2-4 overall record and they finished 7-1-1 in the PacWest.
Phelps, De Torres and Keller were all First-Team selections. Four players named to the all-conference team were named for the third time in their career--
Gianna Masinter (Point Loma), Phelps,
Ashley Grubert (Concordia) and
Grace Nelson (Point Loma).
