Point Loma Tops Sharks to Bolster Postseason Position

Sea Lions move into the second seeding slot, while Menlo'a Robilliart wins two more for a school record 13 singles victories.

Point Loma stepped up with a huge win over Hawaii Pacific on Oahu and the Sea Lions also took out Hawaii Hilo for Team of the Week. Menlo’s Ombeline Robilliart went 4-0 for the Oaks for Player of the Week

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Menlo’s Ombeline Robilliart, So., Annecy, France                                                     
Menlo’s Ombiline Robilliart won both of her doubles and singles matches last week as the Oaks took out Dominican and Westmont. The sophomore had singles victories against Dominican's Kaylee Lopez on court 3 and Westmont's Justie Spitzer on court 2 (her first time in that position this season). The St. Thomas Aquinas transfer earned doubles wins on court 2 and court 3. Robilliart broke the program's single-season singles wins record with her 12th and 13th of the season this week.

TEAM OF THE WEEK:  Point Loma Sea Lions                                                                                                   
Point Loma picked up a major win over previous PacWest No. 1 seed Hawaii Pacific last week in Hawaii. The Sea Lions knocked off the Sharks 5-2, topped Hawaii Hilo by the same score on Saturday and then defeated Colorado Mesa on Monday, 4-2. PLNU moved up to No. 2 in the PacWest pecking order with the victories and improved to 14-3 on the season and to 8-2 against PacWest teams. The Sea Lions’ No. 1 Alina Kupfer won all three of her singles matches, as did No. 5 Zoe Moley.

FIELD FINALIZED FOR PACWEST CHAMPIONSHIPS: The eight teams that will compete next week at the 2026 Pacific West Conference Women’s Tennis Championships are set, finalized yesterday by the conference seeding committee. The eight teams below are currently seeded in this order, but the committee will meet again on Saturday night to take into account matches this week before finalizing the tournament order and match-ups. (1) Azusa Pacific, (2) Point Loma, (3) Hawaii Pacific, (4) Fresno Pacific, (5) Menlo, (6) Dominican, (7) Biola, (8) Stanislaus State. The tournament will be held at the Surprise (AZ) Tennis and Racquet Center, April 15-17 (Wednesday-Friday). Women’s matches will begin at 1 pm on each of those days.

THIS WEEK: There are a handful of matches this week as teams wrap up the season or are trying to improve their seeding heading into next week’s championships. Stanislaus State will be at Jessup on Tuesday and the Warriors go to Azusa Pacific on Wednesday. The Cougars go to Fresno Pacific on Thursday and Saturday Jessup is at Menlo and Point Loma goes to Westmont.  

PACWEST NEWS AND NOTES: Dominican helped their tennis seeding big time with wins over Stanislaus State and Westmont last week, moving from No. 8 to No. 6. Deepa Vanaraja and Sofia Acuna both won two singles matches to help the Penguin cause…Azusa Pacific moved into the top slot with wins over Biola and CSU Los Angeles, helped by Point Loma’s win over Hawaii Pacific…Westmont’s Thea Donarski went 3-0 in singles action last week against Menlo, Dominican and Jessup.

ITA NATIONAL RANKINGS: Azusa Pacific is the highest ranked team from the PacWest at No. 23. Fresno Pacific is 26th, and Hawaii Pacific is 27th. The doubles duo of Hawaii Pacific’s Evi Roobol and Annika Harkovirta is No. 15. In singles, Stina Larsson of APU is 34th and Point Loma’s Alina Kupfer is No. 44 in singles.
