INDIANAPOLIS--Point Loma is the No. 2 seed and will host a three-team sub regional tournament this week at Carroll B. Land Stadium.
The seeds were announced tonight (Sunday) on the NCAA Selection Show. Point Loma is the only team from the Pacific West Conference in the tournament, and earned the automatic berth by winning the conferene championship this past weekend in Santa Barbara.
The West Regional is split into two sites, with Point Loma hosting Cal Poly Pomona and CSU San Bernardino. The other site will be at CSU Monterey Bay, where the Otters will welcome No. 4 CSU San Marcos and No. 5 Northwest Nazarene.
The Sea Lions are making their fifth straight appearance and will host the regional for the third time in the last five years.
The West Regional will be held May 14-16 (Thursday-Saturday) in a three-team, double elimination format. The winner of the two sections will play in a best of three series the following week, May 21-23 for the right to advance to the College World Series in Cary, North Caroliona.
