ANCHORAGE, Alaska – No. 5 California Baptist rolled to an 81-58 win over No. 7 Cal Poly Pomona to capture the NCAA Women’s Basketball West Regional title. The Lancers beat last year’s regional champs to become the first PacWest team ever to reach the Elite 8. CBU will face New Haven in the national quarterfinals on Tuesday, March 24, in Sioux Falls, S.D.
CBU averaged 77 points per game in the tournament and made 32 three-pointers, double the total of the next closest team.

Darsha Burnside recorded eight points, 15 rebounds and five blocks.
Cassidy Mihalko was named to the all-tournament team, finishing with 16 points, seven rebounds, six assists and two steals.
CBU jumped out to an 11-2 lead and never trailed in the first half. Back-to-back three-pointers put CBU up double-digits, 31-20, at the 3:59 mark. CPP pulled within seven early in the second half, but the Lancers kept them at bay with an 11-0 run.
