Hardeman Highlights PacWest D2CCA All-Region Women’s Basketball Selections

D2CCA Women's Basketball All-West Region Team

IRVINE, Calif.
– Azusa Pacific senior Kelly Hardeman was named D2CCA West Region Player of the Year, highlighting six PacWest all-region selections. The conference received six of the 10 positions on the All-West Region team.

Hardeman was joined on the first team by Academy of Art senior Jasmin Guinn and California Baptist junior Cassidy Mihalko. CBU junior Kamille Diaz, Dixie State senior Taylor Mann and Dominican senior Allyssa Weatherd were all named to the second team. The six players comprised the All-PacWest First Team.

First-team all-region members are now eligible for the D2CCA All-America teams, which will be announced prior to the 2015-16 NCAA Division II Elite Eight on March 21. For more information about the D2CCA, visit the organization online here and follow the official D2CCA Twitter handle here.

Hardeman was the PacWest Player of the Year, leading APU to its first conference regular season and tournament championships. She also became a four-time All-PacWest honoree with her third-consecutive first-team selection. She ranked sixth in the conference in scoring (17.6 ppg), third in rebounding (9.3 rpg), eighth in field goal percentage (.443), third in three-pointers (76), fifth in blocks (1.5 bpg) and 10th in steals (1.9 rpg). 

Guinn was the PacWest Defender of the Year for the second time in her career. She led the PacWest in steals (111) and steals per game (3.7 spg), ranking third and fourth in the nation in each category, respectively. She had at least three steals in 23 of her 30 games this season. She became the first player in ART U history to score 1,000-career points.

Mihalko shared the PacWest scoring title (20.1 ppg) and was second in field goal percentage (.556) and first in three-point field goal percentage (.490). A three-time PacWest Player of the Week, Mihalko scored 20 points in 17 games and surpassed 1,000-career points during the season.

Diaz led the conference in three-pointers (93), assists (160) and assists per game (5.7) in the regular season. She was also 13th in scoring (14.8 ppg). She also eclipsed 1,000-career points during the season and set a PacWest Championship record with nine three-pointers in the Lancers’ semifinal victory.

Mann shared the PacWest scoring title with Mihalko and was the conference’s top rebounder (13.4 rpg), ranking in the top-15 in the nation in both categories. The four-time PacWest Player of the Week recorded 22 double-doubles, which tied for the most in the nation, and became the third player in program history to score 1,000 points.

Weatherd led the PacWest in field goal percentage (.591) and was fourth in scoring (19.1 ppg). She scored 37 points in Dominican’s PacWest Championship quarterfinal win over Hawai’i Pacific, setting a tournament and school single-game record and surpassing 1,000-career points.
