2016 All-PacWest Baseball Team
IRVINE, Calif. – The 2016 All-PacWest Baseball Team was released Monday, following a vote by the conference’s coaches. PacWest champion California Baptist garnered 12 honors, including three individual awards.
Stephen Lohr (California Baptist) was named PacWest Player of the Year. He won the PacWest batting title with a .413 average, ranking 49
th in the nation. He also led the conference in runs (57) and on-base percentage (.500), and was second in doubles (20) and slugging percentage (.672), and third in hits (78) and RBI (48). A two-time PacWest Player of the Week, he recorded 23 multi-hit games and drove in six runs in a game against Academy of Art. Lohr is the fifth-consecutive Lancer to win PacWest Player of the Year.
Dylan Stowell (California Baptist) was named PacWest Pitcher of the Year. He was 9-0 in his first season as a starter, moving into the rotation after injuries limited him to only 12.2 innings in his first two seasons. He led the PacWest and ranked sixth in the NCAA with a 1.52 ERA. He was third in the league in strikeouts (81) and allowed just 13 extra-base hits in 82.2 innings pitched. The four-time PacWest pitcher of the Week notched a career-high 11 strikeouts in a win over No. 3 Colorado Mesa.
Mason Hilty (Dixie State) was named PacWest Newcomer of the Year. The College of Southern Idaho transfer went 9-1 with a 3.44 ERA in his first season as a Trailblazer. He ranked fifth in the PacWest in strikeouts (69). He set the Dixie State single-season wins record and became the first pitcher in program history to win his first nine decisions. He struck out a career-high eight in two games.
Leo Carrillo (Fresno Pacific) was named PacWest Freshman of the Year. He hit .383 with five doubles, three triples and 35 runs scored at the top of the FPU lineup. He led the PacWest with a .443 batting average in conference play. He had 54 hits in his final 32 games, including an FPU freshman record 21-game hitting streak, and had 19 multi-hit games.
Gary Adcock (California Baptist) was named PacWest Coach of the Year for the second time in his career. In his 13
th season, he led CBU to its third PacWest championship in the last five years and the top seed in the NCAA West Regional. CBU won 29 conference games, the second-most in history, and did not lost a PacWest series all season.
Dixie State led the conference with 10 All-PacWest selections, including repeat first-team honors for second baseman
Drew McLaughlin and shortstop
Tanner Morache. CBU had nine All-PacWest selections, including all three first-team starting pitchers, with Stowell joined by
Jeremy McDonald and
Tyson Miller.
