AZUSA, Calif. – No. 2 Hawai`i Pacific had its most successful season in program history come to an end with a 76-65 loss to No. 7 Montana State Billings on Friday at the Felix Event Center in the NCAA Women’s Basketball West Regional quarterfinals.
Montana State Billings will go on to play No. 3 UC San Diego on Saturday in the semifinals. It was the Yellowjackets sixth win in a row after winning the GNAC Championships in Anchorage, Alaska last week.
Samantha Lambrigtsen scored a game-high 22 points for Hawai`i Pacific, making 6 of 10 shots from the field. The Sharks finished the year with a 26-4 record, which is the most wins in a single season in program history. Hawai`i Pacific was the PacWest’s regular season Co-Champions and won the PacWest Tournament.
The Yellowjackets were led by a GNAC Player of the Year Alisha Breen, who scored a team-high 21 points on 21 field-goal attempts. Montana State Billings never trailed by more than two points and led for all of the final three quarters to book their spots in the semifinals.
