PacWest Announces Expansion of 2022 Conference Basketball Tournament

IRVINE, Calif. – Due to the vast number of PacWest men’s and women’s basketball games postponed and rescheduled during this year’s basketball season, the PacWest members finalized details of an expanded eight-team men’s and women’s basketball tournament at itsconference meetings this past Friday.  The tournament’s size has been increased from six teams to eight teams in each gender in the interest of competitive equity and is only for this season.

The 2022 PacWest Men’s and Women’s Championships are scheduled to be played during the first week of March at Fresno Pacific University, March 2-5. All four men’s basketball quarterfinals will be played on Wednesday, March 2, followed by the four women’s basketball quarterfinals on Thursday. The men’s semifinals will be played in the day session on Friday with the women’s semifinals played in the evening.  The tournament champions will be crowned on Saturday afternoon, with the men’s title game first, followed by the women’s championship game.

As always, the qualification and seeding for the tournament will be determined by each program’s conference winning percentage – the teams must complete at least 70 percent of its conference schedule to be eligible. The PacWest remains committed to rescheduling as many postponed games as possible this regular season and looks forward to the conference tournament in early March.
