FRESNO, Calif. -- Fresno Pacific won the final game of the regular season to earn the final spot in the 2022 PacWest Championships, which will be hosted in Fresno on March 3-5 with regular season champion Azusa Pacific as the No. 1 seed.

Azusa Pacific and Fresno Pacific will face each other at 7:15 p.m. (Pacific) on Thursday in the Special Events Center. The Cougars won both regular season games between the two teams, but they haven't faced each other since January 15. Fresno Pacific has qualified for the third time as a program and Azusa Pacific enters the tournament with one title under its belt already.

The winner will face the winner of No. 4 Concordia and No. 5 Biola, which will be played at 5 p.m. The two teams played each other earlier this month with each team winning its home game. Concordia is looking for its first ever win in the PacWest Tournament and Biola is looking for a second win in its second time qualifying.

The first game of the tournament will feature No. 3 Academy of Art and No. 6 Hawai`i Hilo at 12:30 p.m. (Pacific) on Thursday. The two teams split the regular season series with each team winning at home. The Urban Knights have won this tournament twice before, while the Vulcans have qualified for the PacWest Championships for the third time.

The winner of that game will face either No. 2 Dominican or No. 7 Point Loma, who will face each other at 2:45 p.m. Point Loma won at Dominican on January 8, but the Penguins got some revenge with a win a month later in San Diego. Point Loma has qualified for the tournament every year it has been eligible to do so, and Dominican has earned the No. 2 seed for the second time in the last three iterations of this event.

Azusa Pacific and Academy of Art are the only two previous tournament champions that have earned a spot in the bracket, while the other six teams are looking for their first PacWest Championships title.
