Hawai`i Hilo's Teani Arakawa, a two-time Pacific West Conference Player of the Year, is now also a back-to-back winner of the D2 CCA NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Player of the Year award.
Arakawa headlined the honorees, selected by the west region's sports communications specialists from the PacWest, the Great Northwest Athletic Conference and the California Collegiate Athletic Association.
The 2024 NCAA West Region women's soccer postseason featured four teams from the Pacific West Conference out of the seven selected. 12 PacWest players were named to the All-West Region teams, with 26 total players selected.
Arakawa had a career for the ages at Hawai`i Hilo, this year leading them to the West Region semifinals. She led all of NCAA Division II in shot accuracy at .795, and tallied 12 goals and had 10 assists this season. The three-year standout's 34 points in 2024 in a Vulcan school record and ranks eighth all-time in the PacWest. The ten assists is third best in a season for the PacWest.
Arakawa leaves Hilo with 30 career goals (fifth all-time in the conference) and 81 points, 4th on the PacWest career list.
Point Loma, the PacWest champion, had three First Team selections and three Second Team honorees.
Alana Diaz, Bethany Arabe and
Emma Thrapp were selected for the First Team. This is Thrapp's fourth all-region honor and the third for Diaz. Sea Lions named to the Second Team were
Zoe Crockett, Naomi Ellis and goalkeeper
Julia Pinnell.
The Sea Lions will take on Cal Poly Pomona next week for the NCAA West Region title.
Other PacWest players named to the Second Team were
Azusa Pacific Jaci Maze, Concordia's Hailey Havican and
Madison Hall, and
Hawaii Hilo's Filippa Graneld. It was Graneld's fourth all-region selection.
