TEAM OF THE WEEK: The
Chaminade Silverswords are the PacWest Team of the Week. Chaminade had a weekend for the Silversword record books with their first-ever win over Biola and a two-point loss to Azusa Pacific. In the 57-42 win over Biola on Thursday, it was CUH's first in 12 tries against the Eagles and the 42 points was the lowest by a Chaminade opponent in the school record books.
Sameera Elmasri had 17 points, seven rebounds and four steals and
Morgan Escobedo added 12 points and nine boards. Against the Cougars in a narrow 59-57 loss, the 'Swords climbed back from a 10-point fourth quarter deficit to cut the margin to two on a Elmasri 3-point play with six seconds left. Elmasri finished with 20 points, ten rebounds and five steals. The 59 APU points was the fewest that the Cougars have ever scored against Chaminade, after putting up 101 last year. Other than APU's one-point loss earlier this year to CS Los Angeles, the two-point win against the 'Swords was the smallest margin of victory this year for the defending PacWest champs. With the split, Chaminade improved to 4-5 in PacWest play.
