TURLOCK, Calif.--Hawai`i Hilo's first-ever journey into NCAA postseason play finally came to a close on Sunday afternoon at Warrior Field in Turlock.
The Vulcans fell to No. 1 seed and host Stanislaus State 2-0. Hawaii Hilo played evenly statistically with the Warriors, outshooting No. 3 nationally ranked squad 11-10 and 3-2 on goal. Unfortunately, Stanislaus State's only two shots on goal both found the back of the net for the victory.
The Vulcans wrap up the most successful season in school history with a 12-6-2 record. It was a school record for wins and the first-ever NCAA postseason appearance for UH Hilo.
Warriors, who improved to a 17-1-1 on the year, scored in the 24th minute (Emmanuel Duran) and in the 34th (Sebastian Carbajal).
One other Sunday outcome will effect the other PacWest team left in the field, No. 3 seed Point Loma. With No. 2 seed CSU Dominguez Hills falling today to Colorado Colorado Springs, the Sea Lions will now host the Mountain Lions next Saturday (1 pm) at the PLNU Soccer Field.
