Four PacWest teams opened conference play with 2-0 weeks, led by Westmont’s two victories by a point differential of +56. Lisa Kiefer had a big part in holding the Warriors’ opponents to under 50 points a game with 35 total rebounds. Biola, another 2-0 team, was led by Laney Grider’s 24 points a game and 7.5 rebounds.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Biola’s Laney Grider, G, 5-8, Jr., Santa Clarita, Calif.
Biola’s Laney Grider had 27 points in an Eagle’s win over Jessup and 21 more in a BU triumph in overtime at Fresno Pacific to land Player of the Week honors. The transfer from The Master’s had a double-double in the win over the Sunbirds (79-73) with the 21 points and 10 rebounds, and scored the final five points in regulation to force OT. Against Jessup (66-65) Grider hit 10 of 11 free throws and also had four assists and a pair of steals, along with scoring the game-winning lay-up with four seconds left.
DEFENDER OF THE WEEK: Westmont’s Lisa Kiefer, F, Sr., 6-2, Marburg, Germany
Westmont’s Lisa Kiefer is the Defender of the Week for the second weekend in a row after pulling down 17 and 18 rebounds in back-to-back Warriors wins. The German native had 18 rebounds against Concordia and 17 more versus Menlo. She also tallied three blocked shots and five steals on the week as Westmont rolled to a pair of easy wins. This is the sixth Defender of the Week award for Kiefer in just a one season and few weeks, which now ranks second all-time on the PacWest list.
TEAM OF THE WEEK: Westmont is the Team of the Week again after two more lopsided wins. The Warriors topped Concordia (66-40) and Menlo (87-57) to improve to 6-2 on the season and 2-0 in conference play. Westmont beat the Golden Eagles and Oaks by a combined 56 points and have now won four games in a row by a combined 107 digits.
Jazmyn Shipp had 23 points and 10 rebounds against Menlo and added 18 against Concordia.
Mariah Brown had 15 total assists in the two contests.

Fresno Pacific’s Sienna Evans filled up the scorebook with 29 points in the Sunbirds’ loss to Point Loma. The freshman also had six rebounds in the contest…

Vanguard’s 83-60 win over Menlo…
Dominican, who is the PacWest’s lone unbeaten team at 6-0, had just one game last week, a 88-63 non-conference victory over CSU East Bay.
