PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Westmont's Adrian McIntyre, Sr., G, 6-3, Sylmar, Calif.
Westmont's Adrian McIntyre continues to have a season for the ages, and last Saturday night in Santa Barbara he had a game for all-time. The senior guard scored 51 points, clipping the previous PacWest record of 50 points by Fresno Pacific's John Taylor in 2013 against Roberts Wesleyan. He also broke the Westmont record for points in a game, which was 46, turned in by Tine Hardeman in 1955--a record that stood for 70 years. McIntyre had 16 of his points in overtime, when he was 5-of-6 from the field and 5-of-6 from the free throw line. He shot 68 percent from the field (17-25), hit 16 of 21 free throws, had seven rebounds and four assists. Earlier in the week, he had a comparingly pedestrian 36 points in a win over Vanguard, also shooting 68 percent from the field (13-19) and hitting 8-of-9 free throw attempts. That gave him 87 points for the week (43.5 ppg). Now at nation-leading 28.1 points per game, Taylor's PacWest season record of 27.5 is also in sight.
DEFENDER OF THE WEEK: Hawai`i Pacific's Team
Hawai`i Pacific continued the trend of team defense getting mentioned, following Hawai`i Hilo and Point Loma who have also been honored this year as the PacWest Defender of the Week. The Sharks went 2-0 with wins over Jessup and Fresno Pacific to improve to 7-7 in PacWest play, 1.5 games out of the final spot in the 6-team PacWest tournament field in March. Most impressively, HPU clamped down on FPU in a 62-46 win, the lowest scoring total for a PacWest opponent in a conference game this year. The Sharks held FPU to 29 percent shooting from the floor and 13% from three-point range. The Sharks had a 40-27 rebound edge, including 33-16 on the defensive end of the court.

Adrian McIntyre's 36 points and seven rebounds.
