INDIANAPOLIS--Point Loma moved up one spot to No. 3 and Azusa Pacific got in at No. 8 in the field announced tonight on the NCAA Sunday Selection Show.
The Sea Lions will face No. 6 seed Central Washington on Friday, March 13 (time TBD). Point Loma won its first ever Pacific West Conference regular season title and yesterday grabbed their inaugral tournament title to secure the conference's automatic berth. This will be their second consecutive NCAA appearance and fourth overall.
Azusa Pacific was listed seventh in last Wednesday's ranking but fell in the semifinals of the conference tournament on Friday, so had to wait by the phone tonight to see if they got in, which they did. They will take on host and No. 1 seed CSU Dominguez Hills, time also to be determined. This is the fifth consecutive NCAA appearance for the Cougars.
The West Region tournament will play out with the quarterfinals on Friday, the semifinals on Saturday and the final is on Monday.
