Sea Lions Move to NCAA Quarterfinals

Point Loma tops Augustana 4-1 to march into the final 8 for the first time in program history. There, there will face #1 Barry.

ALAMONTE SPRING, Fla.--Point Loma not only advanced to their first ever NCAA women's tennis tournament, they have now also won their first west region and Round of 16 matches.

The #17 seeded Sea Lions topped #33 Augustana 4-1, moving into Thursday’s quarterfinal match against #1 nationally ranked Barry (FL).

Point Loma won the doubles point by taking two of the three matches. The Sea Lions won court three first with Anna Pallencaoe and Emely Valencia taking a 6-3 verdict. After losing court two, Point Loma won on court one to clinch with Arianna Audelo and Quin Brady’s 7-5 victory.

In singles, the Vikings got a team point back with a win on court one, but the 2025 PacWest champs proceeded to take the next three matches. The first point came from Pallencaoe on court six (6-3, 6-3), followed by Brady with a longer match on court four, topping Gabriela Jancikova, 6-3, 7-5.

Then Audelo, who also clinched Point Loma’s west regional win over Hawaii Pacific, wrapped the match with a three-set victory over Nicole Dufour on court two, 6-2, 2-6, 6-1.

The Sea Lions move into the quarterfinals with a 20-4 record while Augustana wraps up 2025 at 18-5.
