The Menlo Oaks took out three visitors to their campus for a trio of wins and Team of the Week honors. Point Loma’s Eiley Tippins helped lead her team to a pair of victories with scorching 15-of-19 shooting, and Concordia’s Genesis Hopkins averaged almost 13 rebounds a game and had nine steals for Defender of the Week.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Point Loma’s Eiley Tippins, F-C, Sr., 6-2, Tahoe Vista, Calif.
Point Loma’s Eiley Tippins was a model of consistency during two Sea Lion wins last week. The senior post had 16 points in just 19 minutes of play during a 30-point home win over Jessup, and she added 18 points and six rebounds in a 70-65 road victory at Concordia. More impressive, she compiled that 17 points per game on 15-of-19 shooting, a sizzling .789 percentage. The fourth-year Sea Lion, a two-time All-PacWest selection, averaged 5.5 rebounds in the two games and had three steals.
DEFENDER OF THE WEEK: Concordia’s Genesis Hopkins, F, Soph., 6-0, Seattle, Wash.
Concordia’s Genesis Hopkins hauled in a game-high 14 rebounds and a career-high five blocks in Thursday's win over first-place Vanguard. The transfer from Sonoma State followed that up with an impressive double-double against Point Loma, finishing with 15 points, 13 rebounds, 2 blocks and 2 steals. Hopkins is averaging 2.5 blocks this season which ranks second in the conference, and has played 10 straight games with at least 2 blocks or more. The Seattle native averaged 12.67 rebounds in three games last week, 3.0 blocks and 11 ppg.
TEAM OF THE WEEK: Menlo is the Team of the Week after reeling off a trio of wins at home to improve to 4-5 in PacWest play and 6-8 overall. The Oaks upset Concordia 62-57, ran past Hawaii Pacific 58-28 and stopped Hawaii Hilo, 67-61. Against CUI, Menlo went on a 9-0 run in the fourth quarter to pull away, paced by
Alberte Frisch’s 25 points.
Laila Saenz had 10 points off the bench. In the shutdown against HPU,
Kimberly Ceron-Romero had 12 points off the bench while Menlo’s defense held an opponent to the lowest point total in the PacWest this season. Against the Vulcans, Frisch, the PacWest’s leading scorer, had 26 points and Ceron-Romero again provided a spark off the pine with 14 points and eight boards.
PACWEST NEWS AND NOTES: If the season ended today (which of course it doesn’t), these top six teams would qualify for the Pacific West Conference tournament, March 5-7 in San Diego.
