Westmont enjoyed their Hawaii trip with a trio of wins, led by Molly Garnand’s work on both ends of the court. Menlo’s Zoe Carrillo owned the boards with 18 against Jessup, including 13 on the defensive end of the court to earn Defender of the Week honors.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Westmont’s Molly Garnand, F, Jr., 6-1, Oro Valley, Ariz.
Westmont’s Molly Garnand had an island trip to remember in helping the Warriors to a 3-0 Hawaii run. The 6-foot-1 junior averaged 22.7 points a game and 12.7 rebounds, while shooting a sizzling 64 percent from the field. The third-year Warrior had a career-high 35 points in the trip finale at Chaminade, pulling down a collegiate best 15 rebounds as well. She was 15 of 18 from the floor in just 28 minutes of action. The Arizona native had another double-double against Hawaii Hilo with 25 points and 11 rebounds and she just missed a third double-double with eight points and 12 rebounds in a win over Hawaii Pacific. Garnand began the trip with a season scoring average of 7.7 points per game and 4.6 rebounds a contest, and returned home at 10.2 points and 5.9 rebounds a game.
DEFENDER OF THE WEEK: Menlo’s Zoe Carrillo, F, Soph., 6-0, Phoenix, Ariz.
Menlo’s Zoe Carrillo averaged nine defensive rebounds a game during a split of contests for the Oaks, and she pulled down 18 total boards during a narrow loss to Jessup. She had 13 defensive rebounds against the Warriors, giving her the second highest total in both categories in the PacWest this season. The sophomore also had 17 points vs. Jessup, giving her career high scoring and rebound totals in the same contest. The previous career rebound best for the second-year Oak was ten boards. Carrillo also had two blocks and two steals on the week.
TEAM OF THE WEEK: Westmont is the Team of the Week, winning all three of their contests in Hawaii to improve to 9-3 in conference play and 13-5 overall. The Warriors won those games by a total of 103 points and have now won four straight games and five of their last six.
Molly Garnand had a huge role in those wins (see POW above) and
Lisa Kiefer averaged 11.3 rebounds a game and added six blocks and seven steals. In a 79-46 win over Hilo, Garnand had 25 points and 11 rebounds, Kiefer had 15 rebounds and
Sage Kramer contributed 18 points. Against the Sharks, Kiefer had 15 points and 11 rebounds, Kramer had a double-double with 13 points and 10 boards and
Bailey Fong had 14 points. Garnand had a career night in the final game of the trip with 35 points and 15 rebounds, and
Noemie Bariteau added 19 points off the bench.
PACWEST NEWS AND NOTES: Fresno Pacific’s Sienna Evans had a big week with 24 points in a win over Jessup and 22 points in a loss to Menlo…Same for
Hawaii Hilo’s Kaile Cruz, who totaled 27 points against Concordia, 15 versus Westmont and 21 against Biola for a weekly average of 21 points a game. She hit 13 of 13 free throws against the Eagles to set a new Vulcan single-game record…
Hawaii Pacific went 2-1 on the week, using
Jalen Samuel’s 15 points off the bench and
Alana Roberts’ ten points and 12 rebounds to defeat Biola, 58-52
. Mia Frye had 16 points, seven rebounds and six assists in HPU’s 70-62 win over Concordia…CUI’s
Genesis Hopkins had a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds in that loss to the Sharks…
Azusa Pacific had just one game on the week, but they made it count with a 74-73 double overtime conquest of Vanguard. The Cougars were down 14 points at halftime but rallied back behind
Audrey Sayoc’s 26 total points and
Lauren Jones’ 24. Sayoc had seven of APU’s 10 points in the second overtime…
Dominican also won their only contest of the week, topping Jessup 69-50.
Keyonee Neal had 16 points and 11 rebounds…
Point Loma went 1-0 with a stressful 59-57 win over Vanguard in another battle of two of the top teams in the conference.
Eiley Tippins had 20 points and six boards for the Sea Lions, while former PLNU
player Kaylee Byon had a huge game for Vanguard with 25 points, eight rebounds and six assists…The PacWest’s leading scorer

Menlo had 33 points in two games to basically maintain her average of 18.8 ppg.
