TEAM OF THE WEEK: Hawaii Pacific Sharks
Hawaii Pacific
is the Team of the Week after topping Jessup (3-1) and Chaminade (2-0) to leap into a tie for first place and a share of the PacWest regular season title. They share that trophy with Vanguard, but gain the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament by virtue of their head-to-head win over the Lions. It is the first PacWest title for the Sharks.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Hawaii Pacific’s Kelly Takara, F, Sr., 6-1, Aiea, Hawaii
Hawaii Pacific’s Kelly Takara
was a one-man offensive show for the Sharks last week with four total goals and an assist in HPU’s wins over Jessup and Chaminade. The Oahu native had two goals in both matches, and added an assist against the Warriors. That officially gave him a foot in all five Shark scores for the week. Takara took just five shots on goal and converted on four of them, and he did so averaging just 66 minutes in the two matches. Takara now has 10 goals on the season and four assists. It is his second Player of the Week award, and the 27th all-time for Hawaii Pacific, tops in the PacWest.

DEFENDER OF THE WEEK: Biola’s Elijah Mineiro, GK, Sr., 5-10, San Diego, Calif.
Biola’s Elijah Mineiro
is the Defender of the Week after making the start on Senior Day and making it one to remember. Making just his third start of the season, the San Diego native had nine saves and gave up just one goal in a 3-1 win over Concordia that effectively knocked them out of a slot in the conference tournament. The nine saves were a career high for the fourth-year Eagle.
