INDIANAPOLIS--Heading into the final week of the regular season,
Vanguard, Point Loma and
Azusa Pacific made the first NCAA Division II West Region women's basketball ranking.
The Lions are fourth, the Sea Lions are sixth and the Cougars check in at No. 9. All three squads are in the thick of the race for the Pacific West Conference regular season title, with the conference championship tournament ahead next week.
The winner of the PacWest tournament receives an automatic berth into the NCAA tournament, as does the winner from the California Collegiate Athletic Association and the Great Northwest Athletic Conference, but this list will determine the other five spots.
There will be one more ranking next Wednesday (March 4), and then after the conference tournaments are completed, the NCAA Selection Show on Sunday night (March 8) will reveal the entire field.
Here is today's ranking (Feb. 25), with overall records listed through Sunday, Feb. 22.
