Point Loma, Hawaii Pacific and Westmont List in NCAA Rankings

Sea Lions are No. 3, Sharks No. 7 and Warriors No. 9 in the final men's basketball west region ranking before Sunday's Selection Show.

INDIANAPOLIS--March Madness is here, with the Pacific West Conference Championships beginning tomorrow (Thursday-Saturday), and the NCAA tournament looming next week.

Who will play in that tournament became a little clearer with today's official NCAA West Region Rankings. Point Loma is No. 3 on that list, released by the national office, with Hawaii Pacific at No. 7 and Westmont is ninth.

The winner of the PacWest tournament receives an automatic berth into the NCAA tournament, as does the winner from the California Collegiate Athletic Association and the Great Northwest Athletic Conference, but this list will determine the other five spots.

The next ranking will come out on Sunday night after the conference tournaments are completed, revealing the entire field.

Hawaii Pacific moved up two spots from last week's rating, perhaps in large part to their win over Point Loma last weekend. The Sea Lions slipped one spot from second to third, while Westmont went from No. 8 to No. 9.

Here is today's ranking (March 4), with overall records listed through Sunday, March 1.
