Lukas Pousset (Chaminade),
Bradley Trella (Dixie State) and
Eric Torres (Chaminade). The awards are based on games played Oct. 19-25.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Lukas Pousset (Chaminade)
M, Sr., Limburgerhof, Germany/Francis Marion University
Pousset powered Chaminade to a historic win over Holy Names to earn the first weekly player honor in Chaminade men’s soccer history. He scored the program’s first-ever hat trick and added an assist in a 5-1 victory. His seven points were also a program record. The five goals were the most the Silverswords have scored in a conference game. Pousset’s points came in a variety of ways, as his corner kick started the scoring, and he scored on two penalty kicks and a shot off a rebound.
DEFENDER OF THE WEEK
Bradley Trella (Dixie State)
GK, Jr., Chandler, Ariz./Chandler
Trella earned two draws in conference road games, as Dixie State extended is unbeaten streak to 10 games. He made eight saves in a 1-1 draw with CBU. The one goal he did allow came on a penalty kick, which ended his shutout streak at 796:09. He then made four saves in another 1-1 draw at Concordia. Trella has only allowed three goals in 10 PacWest matches and leads the nation in goals-against average (.350) and save percentage (.923). Dixie State leads the nation in save percentage and shutout percentage (0.73) as a team.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Eric Torres (Concordia)
F, Fr., Santa Ana, Calif./Godinez Fundamental
Torres earned his second-consecutive weekly honor with a goal in his third-consecutive game. He headed in a goal in the 21
st minute against Dixie State, just the third tally the Red Storm have allowed in PacWest play all season. Torres has four goals in the last three games.
