Almazan, Bustamante, Chedraui, Matas – NSCAA All-Americans

IRVINE, Calif. –Fresno Pacific’s Renato Bustamante and Jorge Chedraui, Notre Dame de Namur's Tyler Matas and Azusa Pacific’s Mayra Almazan were named National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Americans on Thursday. On the men's team, Bustamante was a first-team pick, Chedraui was a second-team pick and Matas was a third-team pick. Almazan was a third-team women’s selection.
 
Bustamante and Chedraui became the first NCAA All-Americans in FPU history, capping off a season that the Sunbirds won the PacWest Championship and made their first NCAA Tournament appearance. Bustamante, the PacWest Player of the Year, led the conference in points (31) and assists (13). Chedraui, a three-time All-PacWest selection, was second in the conference in goals (13) and fourth in points (28).

Matas became the second All-American in NDNU history (Cristobal Montes). The PacWest Defender of the Year earned his fourth All-PacWest honor this season,anchoring a defense that ranked third in the PacWest with a 0.83 goals-against average.
 
Almazan also earned the first NCAA All-American honor in APU program history. The PacWest Player of the Year earned her third All-PacWest selection in 2015, ranking third in the conference in points (18), fourth in assists (6) and fifth in goals (6). She assisted the game-winning goal in APU’s NCAA regional win over Sonoma State, the first in the history of the PacWest Conference.
