IRVINE, Calif. – On the second day of the NCAA Softball West Regional, California Baptist was eliminated, while thunderstorms washed out play in Azusa.
In the Humboldt regional, No. 5 California Baptist lost twice to end its postseason run. The Lancers fell to No. 1 Humboldt State, 6-2, in a winner’s bracket game to start the day. CBU led 2-1 after four innings on an
Ali Subia home run and a
London Miller double. Humboldt State tied the game in the sixth inning and plated four runs in the seventh to advance to the regional championship game.
CBU came back in the afternoon for a rematch with No. 4 Chico State in an elimination game. The Lancers had only two hits and committed three errors in a 6-0 loss, ending their season at 42-13.
In Azusa, No. 7 Dixie State faced No. 6 UC San Diego in an elimination game. After the first lightning delay, the Tritons scored took a 2-1 lead in the top of the fifth. Two more lightning delays pushed the game back further and it was finally called for the day. The game will be resumed on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the bottom of the fifth inning. The winner will face Central Washington at 11:30 a.m. The championship game between Azusa Pacific and the winner of the second elimination game is scheduled for 2 p.m.
