IRVINE, Calif. – Dixie State beat Sonoma State, 7-4, to win the Monterey Bay Regional, and advance to the Super Regional for the third time in the last four years.The Trailblazers will play a three-game series at Humboldt State for the West Region title and a trip to the College World Series.
Sonoma State scores twice in the first inning, but Dixie State answered with three runs in the top of the second inning.
Kanzie Sawyer doubled down the left field line and
Dani Bartholf hit a two-run single to put the Trailblazers up, 3-2. In the fifth inning,
Arista Honey hit a grand slam to extend the lead to 7-2. It was Honey’s second home run of the regional, giving her six RBI.
Brooklyn Beardshear earned her second-straight win and
Alexis Barkwell notched the save.
