ARCATA, Calif. – Dixie State lost to Humboldt State, 8-6, in the second game of the NCAA West Super Regional, eliminating the Trailblazers from the tournament. Humboldt State won the region and advances to the College World Series for the second-consecutive year.
Humboldt State, playing as the visitors, scored a run in each of the first two innings, but Dixie State plated six runs in the bottom of the second to take a 6-2 lead.
Jessica Gonzalez hit a two-run home run and
Janessa Bassett hit a two-run triple in the inning.
Those were the only runs the Trailblazers would put up, however. Humboldt State answered with six runs of its own in the top of the third. The Jacks worked three walks and three hit-by-pitches, and capitalized with back-to-back singles to regain the two-run lead. Over the final four innings, Dixie State left five runners on base and had a runner thrown out at home.
Dixie State ends the season 42-14.
