Lancers' Season Ends In NCAA Division II Elite Eight

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- California Baptist wrapped up the 2017-18 season with a 28-6 record after taking a 100-94 loss to Queens in the Elite Eight of the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championships on Tuesday at the Sanford Pentagon.

The Lancers finished the year as runner-up in the PacWest and as the NCAA West Regional champions to earn a spot in the Elite Eight as the No. 7 seed. No. 2 Queens ended the run for California Baptist to advance to the semifinals.

The Lancers trailed by six with two minutes to go when Jason Todd made a lay-up to make the score 94-90. Then Bul Kuol got a steal and assisted a Ty Rowell lay-up in transition to cut Queens' lead to two points with a minute left in the game. However, the Lancers couldn't get a stop on the other end as Queens made all four of its free throws in the final minute to put the game out of reach.

Jordan Heading scored a team-high 21 points for CBU, making 9 of 18 field-goal atttempts. Freshman Ty Rowell had an efficient game 7 of 8 field-goal attempts, including all four from beyond the arc to score 20 points. Kalidou Diouf added 19 points and eight rebounds.
