Reedy Leads Chaminade To Two Victories To Merit Weekly Honor

IRVINE, Calif. -- Chaminade and Azusa Pacific continued their undefeated starts to conference play with two wins each, putting both teams just outside the top 25 in the AVCA Coaches Poll.
 
Azusa Pacific got a pair of wins on the road beating Dominican and Notre Dame de Namur. In the win against NDNU, Julianne Miller reached 395 career blocks to become the PacWest’s all-time leader in that category, giving the senior two PacWest career records.
 
Chaminade defeated Biola and Concordia at home to extend its winning streak to 10 matches. In the fourth set of the win against Biola, the Silverswords registered a .438 attack percentage and now rank 20th in the nation in that category.
 
Hawai`i Hilo also got two wins against Biola and Concordia. The Vulcans now have a seven-match winning streak and are tied for third place in the PacWest standings. Against Biola, Bria Beale tallied 18 kills, 13 digs and three aces.
 
With Cara Keturakis back on the court, Point Loma has won its last three matches as the senior recorded 33 assists, 15 digs and six kills against Dominican on Saturday. This week, the Sea Lions will host Azusa Pacific on Friday in a battle between two of the top teams in the PacWest standings. Chaminade will stay at home this week with three matches on the schedule. The Silverswords will host Fresno Pacific, Dominican and Notre Dame de Namur over five days.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Rachel Reedy, Chaminade
OH, Jr., 5-11 -- Temple City, Calif.
Chaminade won its ninth and tenth consecutive matches last week, beating Biola and Concordia at home to remain undefeated in conference play. During the wins, Reedy had 33 kills in seven sets along with seven digs and two blocks. Against Biola, Reedy had 19 kills and a .378 hitting percentage. On Sunday, Reedy added another 14 kills in just three sets and had a .320 hitting percentage. Reedy now has 179 kills this year and a .356 attack percentage as she has led the Silverswords to a PacWest-leading 15 wins overall this season.
 
DEFENDER OF THE WEEK
Ashley Pawklak, Academy of Art
OH, Jr., 5-7 -- Aiea, Hawai`i
Pawlak recorded two double-doubles last week to lead Academy of Art to victories on the road against Dominican and Fresno Pacific. The junior had 13 kills and 20 digs in the straight-sets win against Dominican. On Saturday, the junior led the Urban Knights to a five-set win against Fresno Pacific in which she had 15 kills and a season-high 32 digs. She also added three assists and two aces for the week. Pawlak is now the PacWest season leader in aces with 24 and she has 231 digs this season.
 
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Abigail Copeland, Biola
MB, Fr., 6-2 -- Olathe, Kansas
Copeland became the PacWest leader in blocks per set last week after recording 11 blocks in Biola’s win against Hawai`i Pacific, setting the 2019 PacWest match high. She finished the week with a league-best 16 blocks and now ranks 15th nationally in blocks per set. Copeland had a .600 attack percentage with seven kills against HPU. She added seven kills against Chaminade and Hawai`i Hilo to five blocks.
