Northern California Pod Releases Hoops Schedules

IRVINE, Calif. -- A 12-game schedule in men's and women's basketball has been approved for the four teams that comprise the PacWest Northern California pod: Academy of Art, Dominican, Fresno Pacific and Holy Names. The soccer schedules have also been approved with each team playing a six-game double-round robin season in February and March.

Each of the pod's four teams will play each other four times in men's and women's basketball. The season will start on January 22 with Academy of Art playing at Dominican, while Fresno Pacific visits Holy Names. Then teams will flip locations to complete the doubleheader the following day. That style of home-away doubleheaders will be held each Friday and Saturday of the first six weeks of the season to get to 12 conference games.

The final week of the regular season is still open, providing teams flexibility to add non-conference games or schedule make-up games should any get canceled over the course of the first six weeks of the season.

Basketball and soccer schedules for the Southern California pod as well as the other 11 PacWest sports will be announced in the coming weeks once they receive final approval. The PacWest Conference's return to play is contingent upon compliance with the guidelines set forth by local, state and national authorities as well as those set out by the NCAA.

Fresno Pacific has gotten an early start to its basketball season, playing several exhibitions against NCAA Division I teams in California and Nevada. The NCAA Division II postseason is scheduled to start in the second week of March.
