IRVINE, Calif. -- Point Loma has picked up right where it left off after a 10-month hiatus from competition, extending their winning streak to 10 games dating back to February 2020.
Point Loma has won each of its last six meetings against Concordia after sweeping the conference opener over the weekend.
Josh Caston scored 29 off the bench for the Sea Lions, whose offense is averaging 88 points per game for the season. A big part of that offensive success has been due to their 44.7 shooting percentage from 3-point range, while holding opponents to 28.3 percent.
Brock Mackenzie is the conference leader in 3-pointers made while
Myles Franklin and
Noah Stapes are a combined 13 for 20 from beyond the arc.
Academy of Art and Dominican split the first series in the PacWest Northern California Pod. The Penguins overcame a four-point deficit in the final two minutes of the first game to win 77-73 with all of their final 11 points coming from the free throw line. The Urban Knights won the rematch on Saturday despite trailing by 26 points in the first half to win on the road 72-67.
Biola and Azusa Pacific both won at home in their series.
Michael Bagatourian scored 22 points and
Alex Wright had a 15-point, 14-rebound double-double in the Eagles’ win. In Azusa Pacific’s win
Mandrell Worthy had 13 points, 12 rebounds, a block and a steal.

Kaden Anderson, Point Loma

The PacWest’s Preseason Player of the Year has lived up to the hype so far this year with three double-doubles in as many games to lead the Sea Lions to a 3-0 start to the season. Point Loma has not trailed all season and has won every game by double digits. In Point Loma’s two wins over Concordia, Anderson averaged 20.5 points and 11.5 rebounds. He also had two steals and a block. He made 17 of 24 shots from the field, including going 2 for 3 from beyond the arc. In the first win against Concordia, Anderson tallied 19 points with five offensive rebounds in just 23 minutes. Anderson made two layups and a 3-pointer to help the Sea Lions race to a 13-0 lead after just two and a half minutes. The following night, Anderson scored 22 points with 13 rebounds, four assists, a block and a steal. The Sea Lions led by double digits for all of the final 31 minutes of the game.
NORTHERN CALIFORNIA PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jalen Lovett, Academy of Art

Lovett made his debut with Academy of Art last week, helping the Urban Knights to a split against Dominican, winning Saturday’s rematch, 72-67. Lovett scored 26 points in the first game, making 10 of 15 shots, including 8 of 9 from inside the arc before fouling out. Lovett also recorded three steals and a block. The following day, the junior scored 12 points, making 5 of 11 shots and had four rebounds, while adding two more assists and another block. With the game tied and 24 seconds left, Lovett scored a layup on a fastbreak to take a 69-67 lead. He then drew a charge to give the Urban Knights the ball back with the shot clock off. After
Stefan Milivojevic made a pair of free throws, Lovett helped the Urban Knights get another stop by grabbing a defensive rebound to secure the victory despite trailing by as much as 26 points in the first half.
