Fresno Pacific’s Souza Leads All-PacWest Teams

IRVINE, Calif. – After scoring a league-leading seven goals in as many games, Fresno Pacific’s Fellipe Souza was voted by the PacWest coaches as the conference’s Player of the Year leading selections to this year’s All-PacWest teams.

Souza scored in all of the last five games of the season to help the Sunbirds finish in first place in the PacWest NorCal Pod. The senior also had one assist in each of the first three games of the season, recording at least one point in all seven games. Fresno Pacific finished the season with a 4-1-1 record against conference opponents.

Point Loma earned three special awards including PacWest Defender of the Year for Matthew Abangan. The junior defender helped the Sea Lions to a perfect 5-0-0 record on the season to finish atop the PacWest SoCal Pod standings. The Sea Lions defense only allowed two goals all season.

PacWest Goalkeeper of the Year Ryan Pierce was a key part of that Point Loma defense which only allowed two goals all season. He made five saves with only one goal allowed on the season in 225 minutes in net. He earned the shutout at Biola with three saves for a 1-0 victory.

Phil Wolf is the PacWest Coach of the Year after leading the Sea Lions to an undefeated season. In his eight years at Point Loma, Wolf now has 54 PacWest victories with this being the Sea Lions’ best finish in the conference since joining in 2012.

Miller scored two goals and was also a key part in the Urban Knights outscoring opponents 14-6 in the five games he played in.
