INDIANAPOLIS -- Five PacWest teams got good news on Sunday evening as the NCAA released the brackets on the selection show revealing which six teams from the West Region will enter the 48-team bracket for a national championship in men's and women's basketball.

On the women's side, Hawai`i Pacific and Azusa Pacific both earned berths. This is the fourth year in a row that both teams have advanced to the postseason, and they will face each other in the first round on March 12. This is the first time that they will face each other in the West Regional, but they have met three times in the PacWest Championships, where the Sharks have won all three meetings. The winner will advance to face Colorado Mines.

For the men, three PacWest teams qualified for the tournament. Biola earned the PacWest's automatic qualifier and the No. 3 seed. Point Loma will be the No. 4 seed in the West Region and Fresno Pacific earned its first NCAA postseason berth as the No. 6 seed. Biola, which also is in its first NCAA playoff appearance, will face Fresno Pacific in the first round on March 12 and the winner will advance to face No. 2 seed Colorado Mines. Point Loma will have a rematch of the season opener against No. 5 seed Northwest Nazarene. The Sea Lions won the first meeting between the two teams, and the winner of the second meeting earns the right to face No. 2 seed Colorado Mesa in the regional semifinals.

The last time the NCAA West Regionals were held, Azusa Pacific won the regional title for the women and Point Loma lifted the trophy for the men.
