IRVINE, Calif. -- This week's PacWest Golfers of the Week are
Anahi Servin from Academy of Art for the women, and
Ryan Torres and
Keita Okada from Hawai`i Pacific are the Co-Golfers of the Week for the men.
MEN’S CO-GOLFER OF THE WEEK
Ryan Torres, Hawai`i Pacific
Sr. – San Jose, Calif.
Torres was back near his home as the Sharks traveled to the Bay Area to compete in the Academy of Art Invitational. The senior finished in a tie for fourth place, which was tied for the best result among the PacWest athletes at the event. Torres finished with an 8-over-par 152, which was just five shots behind first place.
MEN’S CO-GOLFER OF THE WEEK
Keita Okada, Hawai`i Pacific
Fr. – Tokyo, Japan
Okada tied for fourth place at the Academy of Art Invitational out of 22 student-athletes. The freshman finished the first round at 5-over-par 77, and then improved on that with a 3-over-par 75 in the second round to stay in the top-5 on the leaderboard.
WOMEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK
Anahi Servin, Academy of Art
Jr. – Asunción, Paraguay
Servin joined exclusive company with her fourth Golfer of the Week award this week. After winning the Academy of Art Invitational, Servin earned her 12th Golfer of the Week award joining just two other student-athletes in PacWest history to have won 12 or more Player of the Week awards in their career: Samantha Murphy from Grand Canyon with 12 in women’s basketball and Shih Teng Chen from BYU-Hawaii with 13 in volleyball, meaning Servin is just one away from tying the record in just her junior season. Servin won her third individual title of the season by shooting a 16-over-par 160 to win the event by three strokes.
