INDIANAPOLIS--
Three Pacific West Conference teams, led by No. 1 Point Loma, are in the top six of the first official NCAA West Region rankings, announced today by the national office.

From this list are the six west region postseason teams chosen from the PacWest, the Great Northwest Athletic Conference and the California Collegiate Athletic Association. Next Wednesday (Nov. 2) is the next ranking, and the final announcement will be made on Nov. 6 or 7th. The NCAA West Region tournament begins on November 10 at two different locations--sites of the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds.

The Sea Lions, defending co-champs of the PacWest, are listed No. 1 in the Oct. 26 listing. Point Loma is 9-2-3 overall, with both of their losses coming at the hands of fellow conference member Concordia. The Sea Lions' strength of schedule is strong, which includes ties against ranked teams Western Washington, Sonoma State and Hawai`i Hilo.

The Vulcans check in at No. 3, behind No. 2 Western Washington. The Hawai`i Hilo is unbeaten at 11-0-3, most recently with a tie at Point Loma on Monday. That match between the 2021 co-champs is not calculated in this ranking, but will be considered on next week's listing.

Concordia grabs the all-important sixth spot with a 8-3-2 overall record. The Golden Eagles have won three matches in a row, and will square off with UH Hilo on Thursday in Irvine.
