TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Academy of Art's Lauryn James, Sprints, 5-4, Grad., Philadelphia
Academy of Art's Lauryn James got off to a fast start, literally, to the 2024 outdoor season. The grad transfer flew to a mark of 23.85 in the 200 meters at Sacramento State's Hornet Invitational, the second fastest early season mark at the NCAA Division II level this year. That is already an NCAA provisional mark, and she placed third in a huge field of mostly Division I entrants. James, who competed at Charleston Southern prior to moving to San Francisco this year, also ran the second leg on ART U's 4x100 relay team that sizzled to a 45.47 clocking, also an NCAA provisional mark. That time was the fastest in Division II last weekend. James recorded her third provisional of the meet with a time of 11.74 in the 100 meters.

FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Point Loma's Anessa Chirgwin, Throws, Sr., Oregon City, Oregon
Point Loma's Anessa Chirgwin won the discus last weekend at the Ross and Sharon Irwin Invitational at PLNU's facility, her second win in three opportunities this year in the discus. Her throw of 45.79 won this week, and just a few weeks ago she won the CMS Rossi Relays with a fling of 47.30, the third longest throw in Division II this year. The fourth-year Sea Lion is the two-time defending Pacific West Conference champion in the discus, winning last year with a throw of 45.10--which she has already surpassed twice this spring.
