There was a new Pacific West Conference Track and Field queen in 2026, with
Biola winning their first title to displace 9-time champ Azusa Pacific.
That takeover transferred over to the PacWest postseason awards. Biola captured four of the five awards in the annual coaches vote, which takes place at the completion of the NCAA national championships.
Biola’s Eboselulu Omofoma was a double winner, selected as the PacWest Track Athlete of the Year AND the Field Athlete of the Year.
Elizabeth Kurtz of Biola is the Freshman Track Athlete of the Year, Biola’s
Sean Henning is the Coach of the Year and
Vanguard’s Kaylee Best was tabbed as the Freshman Field Athlete of the Year.
Eboselulu Omofoma has the very rare distinction of winning both the Track and Field Athletes of the Year awards. She is already used to having trophies from both areas, having been named the PacWest Freshman Track Athlete of the Year last season and the Freshman Field Athlete of the Year in 2025.
This year, the sophomore from Colorado was outstanding on both sides again. She was a First Team All-American in the 100 and 400 hurdles, and was also the PacWest Champion in both of those events. On the field side, she was a First Team All-American in the triple jump (3rd at Nationals) and was All-PacWest in the long jump (3rd) & triple jump (2
nd). She scored 34 points for Biola at the conference meet. She had a best in the triple jump of 12.77 meters and a long jump best of 5.69. In the 400 hurdles her new personal best is 58.71 and her 100 hurdle time is 13.65.
Omofoma’s teammate
Elizabeth Kurtz was named the PacWest Track Freshman of the Year. The first-year Eagle from Shawnee, Kansas won the 800 meters at the PacWest Championships, running away from the field in a time of 2:12.53, winning by over two seconds. She also finished third in the 3,000 steeplechase. Kurtz finished the regular season ranked first in the conference in the 800, third in the 1500 (4:33.12), fourth in the steeplechase (11:00.09), sixth in the 3000 and tenth in the 5000.
Biola head coach
Sean Henning is the fourth Eagle to win an award, earning Coach of the Year honors. Henning’s Eagles broke the stranglehold that Azusa Pacific had on the conference championship trophy, wrestling it away from the Cougars who had won nine straight titles. Biola won in San Diego this year with 195 team points to APU’s 160.
It was the first-ever PacWest women’s T&F field title for Biola. The Eagles won six individual titles and had 12 All-PacWest performers. Four Biola athletes qualified for nationals and 13 school records were broken during the course of the season. Henning has won a number of cross country coach of the year honors but this is his first track coach of the year.
Breaking into the Biola brigade of awards was
Vanguard’s Kaylee Best. The Norco, Calif. native was named the PacWest Field Freshman of the Year, owning the jumps at the conference meet. Best was the PacWest title winner in the long jump (6.25 meters) and the triple jump (12.42 meters), becoming just the second woman in PacWest history to win both events in the same meet, and she is the first freshman to do so. She went on to place fourth at the NCAA D2 Outdoor Nationals in the long jump (1st Team All-American) and was 13th in the triple jump. She is already the school record holder in both events.
The annual PacWest Track and Field awards are voted on by the conference’s coaches, and take into account the entirety of the 2025 season.
