ART U's Lauryn James sprinted her way to back-to-back Track Athlete of the Week awards, while APU's Eliana Saunders cleared 5-8 in the high jump for Field Athlete of the Week honors.

TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Academy of Art's Lauryn James, Sprints, 5-4, Grad., Philadelphia, Penn.                                    
Academy of Art's Lauryn James won her second straight PacWest Track Athlete of the Week award after another weekend of blistering times in the sprints. The Charleston Southern grad transfer ran 23.52 in the 200 meters at the Mangrum Invitational, bettering her time of 23.85 last week. It is a provisional NCAA qualifier, the second fastest time in Division II this year and is the third-fastest in ART U history. James also posted an Outdoor Nationals provisional qualifier in 400 meters (55.71), and twice ran second leg of ART U's 4x100m relay which delivered two Outdoor Nationals provisional qualifications and two first-place finishes.

FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Azusa Pacific's Eliana Saunders, HJ, 5-11, Jr., Washougal, Wash.                                                
Azusa Pacific's Eliana Saunders cleared the high jump bar at 5-8 last Friday at the Mangrum Inviational at CS San Marcos. For a day, she also sat at the top of the nation after her performance before settling into the third slot after Saturday's meets. It was her first meet since finishing third at the NCAA Indoor Championships last month, and she established an NCAA provisional qualifier. A two-time All-American, Saunders won the PacWest title in the high jump last year and place fourth in the outdoor NCAA Championships. 
 
PACWEST NEWS AND NOTES: The newest member of the PacWest had a school record last weekend. Westmont's Jaiden Rodrigues ran 12.00 in the 100 meters and also clocked 24.88 in the 200 at Westmont's own meet...Madelynn Worley ran fast times as well at PLNU's own meet, recording 12.22 in the 100 and 25.13 in the 200...Azusa Pacific's Alayna Verner placed second at the Aztec Invitational in San Diego in the 400 meters with the second fastest time in D2 this year (54.08). She also ran the 100 in 12.23...Concordia's Sarah Fajer tossed the shot 45-9 1/4, 12th on the NCAA provisional list...Golden Eagle teammate Tayla Crenshaw has a discus mark that sits tenth on the D2 list (148-11)...Cougar Maliyah Medley and Urban Knight Toni Ann Lindsay ran provisional times in the 400 meters at 55.49 and 55.83 respectively...ART U's Juvonna Cornette was lightening fast in the 100 (11.62) and 200 (23.69) last week. The 200 time ranks third in the NCAA...APU's Sofia Camacho ran 4:27.88 in the 1,500 meters, third best in the NCAA...ART U's Katharina Goetschl clocked a time in the same race of 4:30...Fresno Pacific recorded a time of 45.31 in the 4x100, second fastest in the NCAA.
 
LOOKING AHEAD: PacWest teams will return to action this week (Thursday-Saturday) at the Mike Fanelli Classic at San Francisco State, the Stanford Invitational, the Vince Boyle Invite at UC Irvine and the Texas Relays.
