WAIMEA, Hawai`i--After 18 holes at the 2024 Pacific West Conference Women's Golf Championships, not a lot has been decided.
What is clear is that a lot of teams and players are very much in the hunt for team and medalist honors, with 36 holes still to be played at the Mauna Lani Golf Course on the west side of the Big Island.
Biola leads the team race by just two strokes after recording a score of 318 (+30). But their margin is very thin over Academy of Art and Hawai`i Hilo, both just two strokes back at 320 (+32). Lurking one more shot behind that trio is Point Loma (+33) and fifth place Hawai`i Pacific (+37) is also very much in the hunt. Domincan follows in sixth place (+46) and Westmont is in seventh (+55).
HPU's Shuiyn He is on top of the leaderboard after shooting a first day 76 (+4). But she has a ton of company right behind her. Point Loma's Kiara Hernandez and Hilo's Kiersten Saludares are one shot behind the Shark sophomore after shooting 77 each (+5). ART U's Nicole Yang is fourth (78--+6).
Next is a huge group tied for fifth, eight players to be exact. That group is only three shots behind He (79--+7), all very much in the medalist hunt. That group includes the conference's top ranked golfer, Brady Turnquist of Biola.
Round Two begins tomorrow at 7:30 a.m. Hawaiian time (10:30 PT). The live results link is below, along with today's results.
