Pacific West Conference champion Biola won the league title by six strokes, and today won the PacWest Coach of the Year and Player of the Year.
Jane Carr is the Coach of the Year, having led the Eagles to the 2024 title, now having won two of the last three championships.
Brady Turnquist, the top ranked player in the PacWest, was selected as the Player of the Year, and newcomer
Chantel Tsai of Academy of Art is chosen as the Freshman of the Year.
Those three awards were chosen by the conference's coaches, while the three All-PacWest teams are based off Clippd.com rankings.
Jane Carr, in her ninth season as the Biola head coach, led her squad to the conference title and NCAA West Region berth. At the PacWest Championship on the Big Island, the Eagles led from start to finish, eventually winning the trophy by six shots over Academy of Art. Earlier in the Fall, the Eagles were third at Colorado Christian's tournament and second at Westminster's tourney. In the spring, Biola was fourth at CS San Marcos' tournament as a final tune-up for the PacWest.
Biola star
Brady Turnquist was a big reason for Carr's and the Eagles success. The fourth-year senior had the top Clippd.com ranking in the PacWest by a large margin (25.25). She finished second at the PacWest Championship (+7) and topped 59 other golfers to win the 54 for IX Invitational with a +4 score. She was second of 88 golfers at the above mentioned Colorado Christian tournament. Most recently, she was in medalist contention at the NCAA West Regional until the final day.
Chantel Tsai had a impressive rookie season to earn Freshman of the Year. The Taiwan native averaged 78.1 per round, and had her first breakthrough with a tenth place finish in March at the Wigwam in Arizona. She was 16th at Sonoma State's tournament before capping her year with a solid eighth place standing at the PacWest Championships.
It was Turnquist's fourth selection to the All-PacWest team. She was joined on the First Team by fellow four-year honoree
Claire Shubin of Dominican.
Kiara Hernandez (Point Loma),
Elle Otani (Hawai`i Hilo) and
Kiersten Saludares (Hilo) round out the first team. Saludares was the PacWest champion this year, while Shubin won in 2022.
Second Team honorees
Rachel Shaw (Biola) and
Lily Landt (Hawai`i Pacific) were named to the All-PacWest team for a third time, while Third Team pick
Raquel Prado claimed her fourth all-conference award.
