PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Westmont's Adrian McIntyre, G, Sr., 6-3, 185, Slymar, Calif.
Westmont's Adrian McIntyre earned his fourth PacWest Player of the Week award of 2024-25 with 63 points, eight assists and nine steals in a pair of games on the islands. In a narrow four-point loss to Chaminade (78-74), the nation's leading scorer (27.3 ppg) put up a career-high 39 points on 14-of-25 shooting, and also had six rebounds, three assists and three steals. Versus Hawaii Hilo on Saturday, the senior guard added 24 points five assists and a career-best six steals to his weekly totals in the 82-66 loss. In addition to his scoring numbers leading the country and the PacWest, his 2.8 steals per game is second in the conference, and he ranks third in field goal percentage (.541), free throw percentage (.843) and assists (4.1).
DEFENDER OF THE WEEK: Academy of Art's Isaiah Williams, F, Sr., 6-7, Oklahoma City, Okla.
Academy of Art's Isaiah Williams created defensive havoc with ten steals on the week in games against Point Loma and Biola. In a 82-67 win over the Eagles, the senior forward had four steals and also added four blocks, six rebounds and 13 points. In the 74-64 loss to the Sea Lions, he had six thefts and also contributed 11 points. His two steal totals were season bests, and Williams now has 23 steals on the year (12th in the PacWest), 14 blocks (tenth) and is averaging 14.4 points per game (ninth). It is the Oklahoma native's second Defender of the Week award in his Academy of Art career.
TEAM OF THE WEEK: Point Loma Sea Lions
Point Loma made it a season sweep over 2023-24 co-champ Academy of Art with a 74-64 win over the Urban Knights on Saturday in San Diego. The Sea Lions improved to 12-4 on the season and 5-1 in conference play with the win.
Coby Barnes had 20 points, seven rebounds and five assists in the victory, and
Zack Paulsen had a double-double with 11 points and 10 boards. In early December in San Francisco, the Sea Lions edged the Urban Knights by five points. On Thursday, Point Loma clipped Fresno Pacific 71-60, paced by the
Paulsen brothers.
Zack had 20 points and
Tyce added 16 points with eight rebounds.
Luke Haupt added 12 points and eight rebounds.
THIS WEEK: Conference play returns in full swing this week with a dozen games on the slate. Wednesday features Dominican at Fresno Pacific and Academy of Art at Jessup.
