Isaiah Williams earned his second career Defender of the Week award with ten steals, and Point Loma edges three other 2-0 squads for Team of the Week with wins over ART U and Fresno Pacific.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Westmont's Adrian McIntyre, G, Sr., 6-3, 185, Slymar, Calif.                                    
Westmont's Adrian McIntyre earned his fourth PacWest Player of the Week award of 2024-25 with 63 points, eight assists and nine steals in a pair of games on the islands. In a narrow four-point loss to Chaminade (78-74), the nation's leading scorer (27.3 ppg) put up a career-high 39 points on 14-of-25 shooting, and also had six rebounds, three assists and three steals. Versus Hawaii Hilo on Saturday, the senior guard added 24 points five assists and a career-best six steals to his weekly totals in the 82-66 loss. In addition to his scoring numbers leading the country and the PacWest, his 2.8 steals per game is second in the conference, and he ranks third in field goal percentage (.541), free throw percentage (.843) and assists (4.1).

DEFENDER OF THE WEEK: Academy of Art's Isaiah Williams, F, Sr., 6-7, Oklahoma City, Okla.                
Academy of Art's Isaiah Williams created defensive havoc with ten steals on the week in games against Point Loma and Biola. In a 82-67 win over the Eagles, the senior forward had four steals and also added four blocks, six rebounds and 13 points. In the 74-64 loss to the Sea Lions, he had six thefts and also contributed 11 points. His two steal totals were season bests, and Williams now has 23 steals on the year (12th in the PacWest), 14 blocks (tenth) and is averaging 14.4 points per game (ninth). It is the Oklahoma native's second Defender of the Week award in his Academy of Art career. 

TEAM OF THE WEEK: Point Loma Sea Lions                                                                                                    
Point Loma made it a season sweep over 2023-24 co-champ Academy of Art with a 74-64 win over the Urban Knights on Saturday in San Diego. The Sea Lions improved to 12-4 on the season and 5-1 in conference play with the win. Coby Barnes had 20 points, seven rebounds and five assists in the victory, and Zack Paulsen had a double-double with 11 points and 10 boards. In early December in San Francisco, the Sea Lions edged the Urban Knights by five points. On Thursday, Point Loma clipped Fresno Pacific 71-60, paced by the Paulsen brothers. Zack had 20 points and Tyce added 16 points with eight rebounds. Luke Haupt added 12 points and eight rebounds.

THIS WEEK: Conference play returns in full swing this week with a dozen games on the slate. Wednesday features Dominican at Fresno Pacific and Academy of Art at Jessup. On Thursday, Azusa Pacific travels to Hawaii Pacific, Vanguard is at Concordia, Point Loma is at Hawaii Hilo and Biola visits Chaminade. PACWEST NEWS AND NOTES: Four PacWest teams opened 2025 with a pair of wins, including Point Loma, Chaminade, Azusa Pacific and Hawaii Pacific. Chaminade took out Vanguard and Westmont, the Sharks topped VU and Concordia and APU nipped Fresno Pacific and Jessup...Point Loma leads the PacWest after a half-dozen games with a 5-1 record, with Chaminade (5-2) and Hawaii Pacific (3-1) close behind. Biola and Academy of Art are one game back at 4-2, while five teams sit at .500 with 3-3 or 2-2 records...Joshua West had a big week for the Sharks with 35 points and eight steals, including six thefts against Vanguard...Charlie Gehler helped Azusa Pacific to a pair of wins with 35 points off the bench, including 19 in an overtime win over Jessup...Davian Brown had 40 points and eight assists for Biola in their split of games...Jamir Thomas had 42 points in two games for Chaminade off the bench, including 28 against the Lions He hit eight three-pointers in that contest. Anthony Tello also had 28 for Vanguard......Academy of Art opened 2025 with a big win over Biola (82-67) behind Rodney Munson's 21 points...Concordia and Hawaii Hilo went toe-to-toe on the Big Island, with the Golden Eagles holding on for a 92-86 overtime win. Jaden Henderson had 19 points, five rebounds and four assists for the Golden Eagles...Dominican beat Menlo in the Penguins' lone game of the week (72-63), despite 26 points and 12 rebounds from the Oaks's Landon Seaman. DUC's Darius Best had 27 points and eight boards...Hilo beat Westmont to close out the week (82-68). Julio Montes had 16 points and Nadjrick Peat added 15, five rebounds and a pair of blocked shots.
