Although the Cougars were scored on for the first time since September 4, snapping their 10-match scoreless streak, they still got excellent net play from keeper Alexia Muniz who totaled 12 saves for the week. Hawai`i Hilo's Delaney Barbee led the Vulcans with two tallies in their 2-0 victory over Hawai`i Pacific in UHH's lone match last week. The University of Idaho transfer scored the only two goals of the match in a three-minute span, pushing the ball to the back of the net in the 17th and 20th minutes. That gave the sophomore three goals in her last two matches, and she managed the offense against the Sharks in just 43 minutes of play. Azusa Pacific's Alexia Muniz secured her tenth shutout of the season during a 1-0 win over Westmont before giving up her first goal in over six weeks in a 2-1 win over Concordia. She had six saves in each match (both season bests) to give her 12 for the week and 37 on the season. The junior faced 13 shots in each match and now has a 0.33 goals against average and a save percentage of 0.902. APU's and Muniz's scoreless steak came to an end after 974 minutes and just over 16 hours, but only on a converted CUI penalty kick. TEAM OF THE WEEK: Azusa Pacific Cougars Azusa Pacific is the Team of the Week for the third week in a row after vaulting into first place with a pair of PacWest victories. The Cougars slipped by Westmont 1-0 and upended fellow 2024 NCAA tournament squad Concordia, 2-1. The win over the Warriors was APU's tenth consecutive shutout, breaking a school record held by Cougar squads from 2001 and 2013. They got their lone score in the 22nd minute from Haley-Scott Recarte and the defensive work from Alexia Muniz (six saves). Against the Golden Eagles, APU scored twice in the first half via Zoey Kuhn and Faith Crouse to earn their first win at Concordia in eight years and snapped a 22-match home unbeaten streak for the Golden Eagles. APU is now all alone in first place with a 5-0 PacWest record, and they are 8-1-3 overall. PACWEST NEWS AND NOTES: The unbalanced conference schedule makes the standings a bit cumbersome, but it is slowly starting to sort itself out. On top of the heap is Azusa Pacific with 15 points (5-0), followed by Hawaii Hilo with 13 points (4-1-1), Concordia with 11 (3-1-2), Dominican with 10 (3-1-1), Westmont with 9 points (3-2) and Point Loma with eight points and no losses (2-0-2)...Dominican went 2-0 last week with a non-conference win over UC Santa Cruz (1-0) and a PacWest counter over Jessup (2-0).
