Fresno Pacific went on the road to win two more matches to push their overall record to 17-0. The conference victories moved their PacWest mark to 5-0. Point Loma also moved to 5-0 with two sweeps, using setter Sophia Baugh's 84 assists to propel the offense. Meanwhile, Hawaii Pacific beat Chaminade for the first time in 11 tries behind Ella Schoene's 10 blocks.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Point Loma's Sophia Baugh, Jr., Setter, 5-8, Poulsbo, Wash.
Point Loma's Sophia Baugh dished out 43 assists in a three-set win over Azusa Pacific and handed out 41 more in a 5-setter against Westmont. The 43 passes is a PacWest season high for a three-set match and paced the Sea Lions to the sweep of the Cougars. The junior from Washington totaled 15 digs on the defensive side for Point Loma, who moved to 5-0 in conference play and 16-2 overall. Baugh, a First Team All-PacWest pick last year as a sophomore, currently leads the conference in assists per set (11.23) by a large margin.
DEFENDER OF THE WEEK: Hawai`i Pacific's Ella Schoene, Jr., MB, 6-1, La Center, Wash.
Hawai`i Pacific's Ella Schoene helped her team break an 11-match hex against PacWest power Chaminade during a five-set win over the Silverswords. The 6-foot-1 middle had 10 block assists in the win, equaling the PacWest season best in the category. The Shark victory also snapped an eight-game losing streak for her team. The first-year Shark also five block assists and a solo block in a four-set loss to Hawai`i Hilo. Schoene averages 1.06 blocks per set and has 11 solo blocks on the season, both of which rank third in the PacWest.
TEAM OF THE WEEK: Fresno Pacific Sunbirds
Fresno Pacific took its unbeaten streak on the road to southern California and came home with two more victories. The Sunbirds, now 17-0 on the year and 5-0 in conference play, swept Azusa Pacific in rapid fashion but were pushed against Vanguard. For the first time this season, they dropped the opening set (25-16) before rallying back for 25-22, 25-21 and 25-20 wins. FPU hit .519 in that deciding fourth set. "We knew Vanguard was going to be good..." said FPU head coach
Kelsee Montagna. "This was the first time we've lost the first set this season and I am proud of the way we bounced back and took over the match. We found our groove again and are playing really well."
PACWEST NEWS AND NOTES: Fresno Pacific moved into the top 20 last week in the AVCA national poll, listing at No. 19.
Point Loma is No. 6, and the top ranked team in the west region. The next poll is slated to come out today...In addition to the Sunbirds and Sea Lions,
