It was another great volleyball weekend for the PacWest with four teams winning all of their matches. Point Loma stood out with a 4-0 mark by sweeping the tournament at MSU-Denver, which included knocking off No. 5 nationally ranked West Texas A&M. Abigail Nua put down 81 balls, including 30 against the Buffs, averaging 5.4 kills per set. Macy Reynolds kept the ball in play with 93 digs (6.2 per set), including a career high 37 against Wayne State.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Point Loma's Abigail Nua, Sr., OH, 5-10, Lakewood, Colo.
Point Loma's Abigal Nua went back-to-back with PacWest Player of the Week awards after a standout performance in Denver. She was named the MVP of the Colorado Premier Classic after raining down 81 kills over the four matches (5.4 kills per set). She had 30 in a 4-set win over No. 5 West Texas A&M, the second highest total in her four-year career. She hit .308 in that match and added 15 digs on the defensive side. The Colorado native had 22 kills against Wayne State and hit .357 with 15 kills against West Florida. The reigning PacWest Player of the Year mixed in five service aces and averaged 3.6 digs per set (54 total) during the tournament. It is Nua's tenth PacWest Player of the Week award, second all-time only to BYU Hawaii's ShihTeng Chen with 13.
DEFENDER OF THE WEEK: Point Loma's Macy Reynolds, Sr., L, 5-7, Merritt Island, Fla.
Point Loma's Macy Reynolds was the backbone of a Sea Lions defense that helped Point Loma go 4-0 at the Colorado Premier Classic. The senior libero had 93 total digs in the four matches in 15 total sets (6.2 per set). The Florida native had a career high 37 digs in a four-set win over No. 25 nationally ranked Wayne State, eclipsing her previous best of 32 in 2023. She had totals of 19, 20 and 17 in her other three matches, and also had three service aces and 17 assists. Reynolds currently lists second in the PacWest in digs per set with 5.04.
TEAM OF THE WEEK: Point Loma Sea Lions
Point Loma won out over three other unbeaten teams on the weekend to earn the PacWest Team of the Week. The Sea Lions ran through four top squads at the Colorado Premier Classic, winning the tournament. They beat No. 5 West Texas A&M, No. 21 Bentley and No. 25 Wayne State, all in four sets. They topped the tourney with a three-set sweep of West Florida (RV in national poll) to return to San Diego with a 6-1 overall mark.
Abigail Nua was selected as the tournament MVP while
Macy Reynolds and
Sophia Baugh were named to the all-tournament team. The Sea Lions' only loss this season was a five-setter to CS San Bernardino, and prior to the tournament was ranked No. 15 in the AVCA national poll.
PACWEST NEWS AND NOTES: For the second straight weekend, four PacWest teams went unblemished against non-conference teams.
Vanguard went 4-0 with three wins against CCAA teams (CS Monterey Bay, Stanislaus State, CS Dominguez Hills) and Texas Permian Basin.
Biola also won four against the same teams and
Fresno Pacific was 3-0 versus CS East Bay, San Francisco State and Western Oregon. It is the Sunbirds' first 6-0 start since 2010...Additionally,
Concordia was 3-1 at Northwest Nazarene's tournament in Idaho and
Hawaii Hilo won three out of four on Oahu...The PacWest has been a power in non-conference action, with the top six teams going a combined 30-5 against teams from the CCAA, GNAC, RMAC and others.
Fresno Pacific is the lone unbeaten squad (6-0), while
Point Loma, Concordia and
Vanguard are 6-1.
Biola is 6-2, and three others also have winning records--
Hawaii Hilo (7-4),
Azusa Pacific (4-3) and
Westmont (4-3)...
Concordia's Nevada Knowles surpassed the career mark of 2,000 assists..
.Jessup's Kenzie Carpenter had 51 assists in the Warriors' five-set win over Cal Poly Humboldt and
Lauren Toon had 26 digs..
.Biola's Lexi Lambert had six aces in a 3-set victory over Texas Permian Basin...
Fresno Pacific was balanced in their three wins. Freshman
Madelyn Feramisco totaled 33 kills,
Geneva Elliott had 25 kills and hit .548 and
Mikayla Weiss had 21 kills and 22 digs.
Devyn Castaneda totaled 45 digs in the trio of victories...In the block department,
Hawaii Pacific's Ella Schoene and
Reina Kruger of
Chaminade both had 10 each against Florida Tech and UC Merced respectively.
THIS WEEK IN THE PACWEST: The big batch of non-conference contests and tournaments is over, and PacWest teams will take on each other in the coming week. That doesn't mean league matches are all the rage yet. In the 2025 unbalanced schedule, a number of early matches between conference schools are non-conference.
