PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Azusa Pacific's Caitlin DeCanio, C/INF, Sr., R/R, 5-10, Clovis, Calif.

Azusa Pacific's Caitlin DeCanio helped power the Cougars to a 5-0 week with a series win of Academy of Art and a doubleheader sweep against CS San Bernardino. The senior went 4-for-11 (.444) on the week, with seven RBI, two home runs, three runs scored and a triple. The three-time All-PacWest selection had a three-run homer vs. Academy of Art, and ended the first game of APU's twinbill against CSU San Bernardino with a walk-off homer in a 4-3 win.  DeCanio now has 36 RBI on the season, nine home runs, five doubles and is hitting .352.

Co-PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Hawai`i Hilo's Chloe Sales, LHP, Sr., 5-3, Eva Beach, Hawai`i
Hawai`i Hilo's Chloe Sales threw a no-hitter against Vanguard last week, and actually shut down the Lions twice during a pair of brilliant pitching circle performances. The lefthander threw the no-hitter on Friday during a 3-0 Vulcan win, without allowing a walk and fanning two (she hit two batters). She got through the seven innings on just 58 pitches. On Saturday, she added another five shutout innings on just two hits during a 9-0 mercy rule win. For the week, the senior went 12 innings, allowing only two hits and no runs. This comes just one week after teammate Madison Rabe threw a no-hitter and was the PacWest Pitcher of the Week.

Co-PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Dominican's Taylor Rodriguez, RHP, Jr., 5-4, Livermore, Calif.
Dominican's Taylor Rodriguez did what no other pitcher in the PacWest has done this year--throw back-to-back games without giving up a earned run against conference leader Concordia. Rodriguez gave up a total of seven hits in the 14 innings of work, walked just two batters and fanned seven. The junior threw 106 pitches in the 5-2 win and just 83 in the 1-0 shutout. Rodriguez now has six complete game shutouts this season, and is 13-3 with a 1.39 ERA.

TEAM OF THE WEEK: The PacWest Team of the Week is the Jessup Warriors. Jessup won three of four games against Concordia and swept Menlo in a doubleheader for a 5-1 week. The Warriors were clutch, with all three of their wins against CUI being decided by a single run. Jessup beat the Golden Eagles on the road by the scores of 1-0, 5-4 and 2-1. They also won one of their games against Menlo by a 4-3 count. That helped the Warriors to improve to 17-8 in conference play and 25-17 overall. Alexandria Himes was excellent in the pitching circle with 18 total innings pitched, only two runs and two wins. She walked only one batter in that 18 innings. Offensively, Maddy Ybarra was a force again, driving in six runs in six games with three home runs and three stolen bases. Ybarra leads the PacWest with 11 home runs on the season.

THIS WEEK IN THE PACWEST: Play continues today and tomorrow with Biola at Chaminade. Vanguard is at Hawaii Pacific for a Tuesday-Wednesday series, while the weekend features Biola at Hawaii Hilo, Academy of Art at Menlo, Vanguard at Chaminade, Dominican vs. Jessup and Azusa Pacific at Concordia.  For the complete 2025 PacWest schedule, click here.

PACWEST NEWS AND NOTES: Biola moved into first place in the PacWest standings with three wins over Hawaii Pacific and Concordia's losses to Jessup and Dominican. The Eagles (19-5) are now a game up on the Golden Eagles (19-7), with Azusa Pacific and Jessup close behind at 17-8...The Eagles got more great pitching work from DJ Symons. Against the Sharks, Symons pitched two complete games, giving up just one run in 14 innings of work. She scattered nine hits, walked just two and fanned 10... Despite the down week by their standards, Concordia still received two great pitching performances in two of their wins (3-5 on the week). Kacie Gossett tossed a four-hit shutout and Bella Calvo did the same with a one-hitter, hers against Dominican. Calvo struck out eight Penguins in the 1-0 CUI win...In a week of outstanding pitching performances, Vanguard also had a pair. Brianna Williams threw a four-hit shutout against Academy of Art and LeeAnne Miranda did the same on six hits against the Urban Knights.
