Eagles and Golden Eagles Win and Fall at NCAA Regional

Biola and Concordia both win a game to stay alive but then fall to end successfull softball seasons.

The two Pacific West Conference reps in the NCAA Division II West Regional Softball Championships battled back in elimination games but eventually saw their seasons come to a close in northern California.

Concordia topped Sonoma State 6-4 to begin the day before falling to No. 15 nationally ranked CS East Bay in Hayward. Biola won a 4-3 walk-off over St. Martin's in San Francisco before falling at the end of the day to CS San Marcos in eight innings, 5-2.

Concordia, the PacWest tournament champs, lost to Western Washington on Thursday, so they had a must win situation on Friday. They made sure to get on the winning side with a 5-run first inning against Sonoma State, using Shelly Faulk's three-run double to help plate five runs. They would survice a late Seawolves comeback for the 6-4 win.

The Golden Eagles then squared off with host CS East Bay and scored early again on Kaliya Yco's RBI-single. But the Pioneers would match their run and add two more in the fouth. That would be all the scoring for CUI, and their season would come to a close at 41-16.

Biola, who lost to CS San Marcos on Thursday, stayed alive on Friday with a 4-3 win over St. Martin's. Alexa Medley singled home the winning run in the bottom of the seventh to keep the Eagles season alive.

Then, facing CS San Marcos again, the two squad took a 2-2 tie into extra innings before the Cougars put together a 3-run eighth to pull away. Biola, who won the PacWest regular season title, ends their 2025 campaign at 39-21.
