Golden Eagles Soar to LJ honors

Concordia's Jasmyn Crawford earns a bronze in the long jump at the NCAA National Championships and Dylan Crawford finishes eighth.

PUEBLO, Colo.--Concordia's Jasmyn Crawford earned the first medal for the Pacific West Conference on day one of the NCAA Division II National Track and Field Championships. 

Crawford soared to a mark of 20-8 (6.30) for a third place finish. She hit that mark on her fifth jump and finished four inches behind the national champion Denise Hernandez (21-0) of Lewis. 

Fellow Golden Eagle Dylan Fox finished eighth in the same event with a leap of 24-7 3/4 (7.51) in one of the few final events on the first of the three-day event hosted at Colorado State-Pueblo.

Azusa Pacific was well represented in the multi-events on Thursday. After the first day, Esther Conde-Turpin sits in second place in the heptathlon with 3,553 points. Teammate Luisa Fischer is fourth (3,449) through four of the seven events.

Conde-Turpin had the top mark in the 100 hurdles (13.37) and in the shot put (13.62). Fischer had the best high jump at 1.78.

In the decathlon, APU's Lincoln Krog sits in fourth through five of the ten events with 3,998 points. Krog had the third best 400 meters on the day (48.52).
