Chaminade remains in the top slot in the PacWest standings after a trio of wins at home last week. Andrew Nagy helped Point Loma keep pace with a pair of victories, going for 27 points against Azusa Pacific and 19 more against Biola while shooting 63 percent. Kent King had eight steals and 23 rebounds to help the Silverswords improve to 7-1 in conference play.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Point Loma’s Andrew Nagy, F, Soph., 6-9, Anaheim, Calif.
Point Loma’s Andrew Nagy shot a sizzling 63 percent from the field while also putting down 46 points in the scorebook during two Sea Lion wins last week. The sophomore forward had 27 points in a 90-82 win over Azusa Pacific and added double-double numbers with ten rebounds. He hit 11 of 16 shots against the Cougars, and scored 21 of his points in the second half. Earlier in the week he had another double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds as the Sea Lions beat Biola by 20.
DEFENDER OF THE WEEK: Chaminade’s Kent King, G, Sr., 6-5, Washington, D.C.
Chaminade’s Kent King was very noticeable on both ends of the court last week during three home Silversword victories. When all was said and done, the nation’s capital native had 23 rebounds (7.6 rpg) and eight steals to help the ‘Swords remain in first place. The senior also had 59 points (19.7 ppg) and 14 assists. He had 13 rebounds against Vanguard, 11 of those on the defensive end, and totaled a career-high 26 points against Menlo.
TEAM OF THE WEEK: The
Chaminade Silverswords stayed in the top slot of the PacWest standings with three tight wins at McCabe Gymnasium last week. The ‘Swords moved to 7-1 with a 78-77 win over Vanguard in overtime, a 88-85 victory over Menlo and a 85-83 triumph over Dominican, winning the trio of games by a total of six points. Against the Lions, CUH had five players in doubles figures and came back from a nine-point first half deficit. Against Menlo,
Kent King had 26 points on 5-of-8 three pointers and
Nathan Medina added 21, hitting 8-of-9 free throws. Against the Penguins, King had 18 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and four steals, while Chaminade also got 18 points from
Kris King and
Nate Sasser had 16 off the bench. The Silverswords have now won seven of their last eight games since playing in the Maui Classic.
PACWEST NEWS AND NOTES: Westmont went 2-0 last week with victories over Fresno Pacific and Biola. Against the Eagles, the Warriors built a 37-22 first half lead and held Biola to 35% shooting from the field in the 67-55 win. In the win over the Sunbirds, WC had five players in double figures in the 79-67 victory…
Hawaii Pacific was also unblemished by slipping past Menlo and Vanguard at home.
Joshua West averaged 19 points a game in those two contests to pace the Sharks. In the win over the Oaks,
