Bagley and Widdows Vault and Skim Their Way to Awards

Fresno Pacific's Shane Bagley goes 18-4 1/2 in the Pole Vault while Biola's Joshua Widows finishes the 1-lap hurdles in 51.01.

Fresno Pacific’s Shane Bagley hit a Sunbird program record in the pole vault (18-4 ½ ) and won the Stanford Invitational. Joshua Widdows of Biola posted the second fastest mark thus far in D2 with a time of 51.01 in the 400H, winning the Stanford Invitational.

TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Biola's Joshua Widdows, Hurdles, Soph., 5-11, Tigard, Ore.                        
Biola's Joshua Widdows sprinted towards a new program record and top performance at the Stanford Inviational on April 4th. Widdows’ 51.01 is the current NCAA #2, bettering the standard by 2.05 seconds. The Oregon native ran 14.74 in the 100H and the anchor leg in the 4x400, which clocked in at 3:14.27, placing 6th in a competitive field.

Fresno Pacific’s Shane Bagley vaulted to new heights this weekend at the Stanford Invitational. The junior from Lemoore, California, claimed the event title with a mark of 5.60m (18 ft- 4.5 in). Bagley’s vault shattered FPU’s school record and put him at #5 on the NCAA Division II All-Time List. Bagley is currently ranked first in the nation and was recently seclected by the USTFCCCA as the Division II Men’s Track and Field Athlete of the Week.

NEWS AND NOTES: Azusa Pacific’s Kyle Galinis won the UCSD Trition Invite 10k in 30:08, finishing a minute faster than the second-place finisher and securing an #8 All Time spot in the APU record books...Fresno Pacific's Shemar Palmer, the 2025 PacWest Track Athlete of the Year, served early notice for 2026 with a time of 10.33 in the 100 meters...Concordia's Trey Vergenz had a throw of 55-2 in the shot put...Jackson Paramo of Fresno Pacific compiled a total of 6,486 points in the decathlon at the University of California-Berkeley. 

LOOKING AHEAD: PacWest teams will continue to launch into the outdoor season, competing in a variety of meets this weekend that include the Azusa Pacific Bryan Clay Multis, the San Diego State Aztec Invite, and the Wildcat Invitational in Chico.

PACIFIC WEST CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS: The 2026 conference meet will be hosted by Point Loma this year in San Diego, April 23-25.
