TEAM OF THE WEEK: Biola Eagles                                                                                                                      
Biola is the Team of the Week after a win over CSU San Bernardino (1-0) and a tie with CSU San Marcos (2-2). The Eagles improved to 3-2-1 overall, led on offense by Jade Alverio with a goal in each match, including the game winner against the Coyotes. Hayden Gehring had a goal and an assist against the Cougars, while goalkeeper Sami Robinson had eight saves and just one goal against in 135 minutes of play.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Concordia’s Ashley Grubert, MF, Sr., 5-2, Irvine, Calif.                                             
Concordia’s Ashley Grubert picked up her second Player of the Week honor in a three-week span after a productive week for the Golden Eagles. The senior midfielder had two goals during a 3-3 tie with Simon Fraser and had CUI’s only score in a 1-1 draw with No. 2 nationally ranked Cal Poly Pomona. Grubert leads the PacWest with six goals in six matches and 13 points overall. CUI is unbeaten at 3-0-3 in non-conference play.

DEFENDER OF THE WEEK: Vanguard’s Grayton Normand, GK, Sr., 5-6, Chino Hills, Calif.                        
Vanguard’s Grayton Normand put up a career high and PacWest season high 10 saves during a 1-1 draw with No. 24 nationally ranked CSU Los Angeles. Normand faced 18 shots on the day, 11 of them on goal in the huge effort against the Golden Eagles, who remained unbeaten at 3-0-2. The 10 saves doubled Norman’s total for the season, who has started five of the six matches in goal for the Lions this month.
 
PACWEST NEWS AND NOTES: Dominican went 1-1 last week to improve to 4-2-1 on the season. The Penguins fell to Fresno Pacific (1-0) and topped Cal Poly Humboldt (1-0)…Antonella Russo had a goal and an assist in Concordia’s 2-2 draw with Simon Fraser…Point Loma played to a 1-1 deadlock with No. 24 CSU Los Angeles…Last week's United Soccer Coaches Association West Region poll looked like this (the next poll will come out tomorrow, Sept. 15).
